„Write it in your calendar, we will meet on June 28th at the thirtieth Budapest Pride,” said Budapest Mayor Gergely Karácsony at a demonstration in front of the Parliament attended by a few hundred people in response to the fifteenth constitutional amendment. According to Karácsony, the Pride will take place and „if you want, it will be bigger, freer, and prouder than ever before.”

Karácsony believes that the constitutional amendment is not only about the Pride, „but primarily and above all, it is about freedom, dignity, and justice.” He thinks that in Budapest, they know that when they protect the freedom of minorities, people are protecting their own freedom. „Because either we are free together, or none of us are.”
Karácsony said, „A law that is not made by the nation, but merely by a party, is not a constitution, not even a basic law, at most a makeshift entity that even those who voted for it do not respect, as they have just modified it for the fifteenth time.” He believes that if the country gets a new constitution, „it will start from the premise that we Hungarians are not the same, but equal.”
He thinks that laws should protect citizens from power, but in Parliament, they pass laws that protect power from freedom. „I ask you to stand up for your truth in a way that you never forget, bridges are there to cross, and find each other,” Karácsony said.
